So Tallahassee for the most part dodged a bullet with Hurricane Irma, but we might not next time. We talked in a previous blog about what you want to think about when you pick your next roof. But in this case, you have the roof you have and its time to check out the damage and at the same time prepare for the next.
The first thing you want to do is to check for missing shingles, cracked tiles, stuck debris and anything else that could cause leaks. Leaks can cause further damage to the roof as well as potentially damage valuables in the home. So you want to, if you can safely, inspect the roof from the roof. If it’s a high roof or you don’t feel comfortable, please contact someone like us to come out and help you. The last thing you need after going through an event like a hurricane is to get hurt.
Hopefully you didn’t find any real damage, obviously if you did then please contact someone to help repair it right away, you never know when the next storm could come to Tallahassee. If you didn’t, still take a hard look, because this is a good time to fix anything minor just in case. You should also take a look at your Gutter system for any damage or loose rails, as these can become projectiles during a storm. Even if they didn’t get damaged, they could have been loosened and that could be an easy fix for next time.
Don’t contain it to just the roof, tree debris, fences and other things that can cause damage by flying around are all good areas to check. All of us in the Tallahassee community knows that we prepared well for Irma. Now is the best time to take a look at the things we can do to prepare even better for next time
